WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Scripture tells us that baptism is the next step in your salvation story. Jesus commands his disciples by saying to them.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Baptism is the outward covenant of our internal faith in Jesus Christ. It represents that we are dying to our old self as we are being lowered into the water, then being raised to the newness of life through Jesus as we are lifted out of the water.
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

If you have decided to follow Jesus or want to make that decision today, then baptism is your next step! Maybe you have decided long ago to follow Jesus but have never been baptized. Then this next verse is for you.

Baptism FAQ
Immersion or sprinkle?
We do not sprinkle at Oasis Church. We believe in the full immersion into water. In fact the word "Baptism" literally means to immerse or submerge. Every example of baptism given to us in the New Testament was done by immersion.
Do you baptize children?
Yes and no. The Bible leads us to believe in the age of accountability before baptism is to take place. This is not a specific age but a cognitive ability of a child to make the decision for themselves and understand what they are doing. What am I baptized in?
We have a portable baptismal that we fill with clean warm water. It has a few steps you will need to get up and a nice seat in the water where you are able to lean back in as the pastor helps you down under the water then lifts you back up.
When do baptisms take place?
We hold baptisms after each service on Baptism Sunday's. Baptism Sunday's happen at random time throughout the year or whenever people request to be baptized. Use the form below to request a baptism.
